Bottas joins Alfa Romeo on multi-year deal (Transfer news)

Valtteri Bottas has signed a multi-year contract to join Alfa Romeo from Mercedes next season. The Finn will replace Kimi Raikkonen, who is retiring from Formula 1 at the end of the year. Bottas said he was excited to join Alfa Romeo and help them move up the grid, especially with the new regulations in 2022. He also thanked Mercedes for their support and said he was focused on finishing the job with them this season. Bottas will be reunited with his former boss Fred Vasseur, who ran him in GP3 and F3. Vasseur said Bottas was a strong team player with experience at the front of the grid and four constructors’ titles to his name. He said Bottas was the right driver to lead Alfa Romeo into the new era of F1.
